In the last years this technique has been used, but for many years ago has been put in practice. The ancestral art to give form and create sculptures with the plants is called Topiary or ornamental prune. To make these sculptures it is necessary to use molds. When the shrub grows more than 10 or 15 centimeters it is necessary to prune giving it the form of the mold.
Trees that they are less complicated to be molded are: fichus, privet, cypress, boxwood, disk; that give immense life to a beautiful world of gardens. The forms that trees or shrubs can take are diverse: squares, rectangular, cleared, human forms, imaginary personages and animal forms.
Those great sculptures can be appreciated in places like the Gardens of Alhambra in Granada, the Castle of Villandry in France, Villa Beckley in Oxfordshire. The biggest garden sculpture of the world is Samban-Lei Sekpil in India, with more than 18 meters of height.
