From the times of Tuthankhamon people began to carve wood. At the present time the wood very is required by the sculptures due to its texture and the good results obtained when finishing the art work.
The wood sculptures can be varnished, painted or to leave it with their natural color; for these last ones we can use: cedar, rivets, walnut, mahogany which have the noble wood denomination. To work with the Wood, the sculptor use diverse tools as the wood mace, hews with an axe and chip ax, rasps of diverse sizes the gouges, etc.In order to avoid that wood is humid and cannot be worked, it’s better to obtain the wood at least five years before beginning to carve it.
